Post Defiance One Year Anniversary
On Sunday, August 26th, Post Defiance was able to throw what may well have been the Tacoma party of the year, thanks to the support of our readers and the generosity of donors like 1022 South, 21 Cellars, Hilltop Pop Shop, Backcountry Creamery, Bluebeard Coffee, Sean Alexander, King’s Books, Springtide Press, Anagram Press, and Libertine Tacoma.
The party was our opportunity to thank our many contributors, while showcasing some of our favorite local artists – with performances by Taxi Driver, Colin Scott Reynolds (ILow), Kye Alfred Hillig, and Grace Youn with Angel Llanos.
The event left us feeling all the more grateful for our readers and supporters. We are so glad to be a part of such a wonderful community. We believe in Tacoma, and we look forward to another year of discovering the beauty it has to offer.
Photographer Alicia Wilkinson was on hand to document the festivities for our readers. Her pictures are shared with you in the gallery below. And as a bonus, a few of Grace Youn’s performances at the event have already made it to youtube. Be sure to check them out here.

- Grace Youn and Angel Llanos played a formidable set of cleverly arranged pop song covers and mash-ups for the party-goers.
- A party that begins with homemade cakes and fresh fruit is a good party. We throw very good parties.

- Post Defiance is proud to have our own “merch” for the first time ever. We might be a bit biased, but we do recommend our lovely t-shirts and tote bags.

- No summer garden party is complete without jazz. But live jazz from an imposingly talented young local band – Taxi Driver – truly put the Post Defiance Anniversary party on another level.
- There are few things in this world better than live music, friends and refreshments at a garden party.
