Post Defiance Celebrates Two Years with the Help of our Community

Post Defiance is happy and honored to present our second anniversary party on August 17 with the help of some wonderful sponsors and partners. Check out everyone helping to make this event possible:

Our presenting sponsors:

Hilltop KitchenFamiliar to many, Tacoma bartender and visionary Chris Keil has begun a brave new venture with business partner and chef Matthew Schweitzer. Opening this summer, Hilltop Kitchen features Keil’s impeccable and much loved cocktails paired with bold and satisfying food.

This new establishment unites many of Keil’s and Schweitzer’s passions, bringing together their love for seasonality and localism, experimentation and reuse, and tacos and mezcal. The beautiful and inviting Hilltop Kitchen is a testament to Keil’s and Schweitzer’s commitment, tempered with fun, curiosity, and love for this community. At the Conservatory Concert expect delicious cocktails and complimentary snacks.

Diecut StickersHave you seen those beautiful Post Defiance stickers? Well, thanks to the professionalism and creativity of Diecut Stickers, Post Defiance is now stuck on all sorts of things in this town.

Based in Seattle and helmed by a Tacoma native, Diecut has become a premiere vinyl diecut sticker manufacturer also specializing in banners and vehicle wraps. Make sure to check out our new banner and stickers, designed by the Post Defiance creative directors and made by Diecut, at the party!

Kings BooksSometimes Post Defiance plays favorites and it’s just because we’re right. King’s Books is Tacoma’s  bookstore, providing quality new and used books and contributing all sorts of amazing opportunities and activities year round so everyone can find a way to make books a part of their lives.

King’s Books hosts our Post Defiance Contributors Forums and will also help us present the concluding Defiant Dance.

livelyLively is a game-changing new live music application homegrown here in the Pacific Northwest. Through Lively anyone can gain unprecedented access to live-recorded music and videos from shows around the country, and bands and promoters can create and share performances with fans.

The Conservatory Concert will be recorded and made available through Lively, and all proceeds from downloads will go back to the performers, all of whom are volunteering their performances (just like all the Post Defiance contributors volunteer their art and writing)!

BluebeardWe love that we can always count on our friends at Bluebeard Coffee. One of Tacoma’s favorite coffeehouses and roasters, the brilliant minds behind Bluebeard are not only meticulous and compassionate in their treatment of the coffee beans that comprise their product, they are also Tacoma lovers, championing local art and artists.

And as they say on their website: “We hope our light, open space beckons those from all walks of life, and that they feel welcome in our midst. We promise to drug them as we do this.” Expect to be refreshed and invigorated at the Conservatory Concert by Bluebeard’s delectable cold brew.

warehouselogoWe at Post Defiance has a long and firm love affair with/professional appreciation for our friends at The Warehouse. These team of enthusiastic independent music lovers have been organizing, booking, and promoting shows in Tacoma for more than three years, and have become a driving force in the evolution of music and access to it locally. Because of their efforts, everyone at the Conservatory Concert will be able to hear the performers!

Our partners and contributors:

Our anniversary couldn’t be a party without entertainment. All performances, activities, and elements you’ll enjoy on August 17 are donated by incredible artists and community members.

So please come celebrate with us and enjoy the artistry of: William Jordan, Grace Sullivan of Apartment Lights, Mr. Melanin (aka Eddie Sumlin), Rockwell Powers, Anna Moore of Lobsana, the members of the Tacoma Lawn Bowling Club, the musicians of Taxi Driver, Susie Philipsen, the Gritty City Sirens, and MLK Ballet. Wow, right?
