Tinkertopia Official Grand Opening Day!

Today marks the GRAND OPENING of Tinkertopia, at 1914 Pacific Avenue, near the University of Washington Tacoma Campus (another beautiful partnership with Spaceworks). Owned by Ryan (“R.R.”) and Darcy Anderson, this shop aims to activate the imagination and save our planet by re-using a plethora of forgotten or misunderstood materials for artistic or otherwise unforeseen uses. I dropped by with my son this morning and walked away with enough odds and ends to construct what is sure to be a very convincing model of a certain infamous television robot, from an odd menagerie of excess medical equipment, tubing, shiny foam, drum sticks, and Styrofoam balls. What will you build after visiting Tinkertopia?

I was lucky enough to attend the grand opening and I pawed through the bins like a kindergartener. It was really fun and now there are all these cool things to put together at home. Thanks to RR and Darcy (and everyone behind the scenes) for making this great place. I look forward to bringing my niece and nephew in for creative time.
